By finding your main shut-off and any smaller isolation valves in advance, and labelling them clearly, you turn a chaotic situation into a manageable one. Labels can be simple – “Kitchen sink,” “Guest bathroom,” “Main water” – written on tags or tape.
When something goes wrong, you or anyone else in the house can quickly turn off the right valve instead of shutting down the whole system unnecessarily.
