There’s a moment — usually late in the evening...

If household staff, maintenance workers or temporary helpers use the same keys or entry codes as your family, you lose track of who can access what and when. If someone stops working for you or a relationship changes, you’re forced to change everything.

By giving staff a separate key or unique access code, you create a clear boundary. If they leave, you can simply take back that key or disable their code, without affecting your own. For digital locks, many systems let you assign and remove individual codes.

This setup also makes it easier to manage part-time workers, like cleaners or gardeners, who only need access on certain days or only to certain doors.

The goal isn’t mistrust; it’s good housekeeping for security. Clear, adjustable access is easier to manage than one key that opens all doors for everyone.
